 His Excellency Ashok Kumar The High Commissioner of the Republic of India to Zambia Brief Biography Born in 1953 in District Hoshiarpur of Punjab, Ashok Kumar is a Post Graduate in English from Punjab University, Chandigarh.
He joined the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) in 1977. In September 1980, he joined the Indian Foreign Service.
He has served in Indian missions in Bahrain, Singapore, Afghanistan, Australia and Egypt in different capacities. He was India’s Ambassador to the Sudan from December 2002 to August 2005, Consul General of India in Vancouver, Canada from November 2005 to August, 2008. From October 2008 till date, he is India’s High Commissioner to Zambia. Based in Lusaka he is also India’s Special Representative to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and is concurrently accredited to the Republic of Malawi. Mr. Ashok Kumar like's to watch cricket.He also like to play Gulf.
He married with Mrs. Jassi Kumar and blessed with a daughter Nehmant Kumar.
