NOTIFICATION FOR REGISTRATION OF INDIAN EXPAT VOTERS
 
The Election Commission of India have notified Legislative Elections in the States of West Bengal, Assam, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry. Under the amendments in the Representation of the People Act, 2010, overseas electors may submit their registration forms to be able to exercise their franchise in their respective constituencies as per the place of permanent residence given in their passports. The claims are to be submitted in appended Form-6A directly to the registration officer of the constituency concerned in person or sent to him by post, along with the documents mentioned in Form-6A and the guidelines.

Note:
As far as the attestation of form 6A is concerned, and/or attestation of other documents related to the registration process are concerned, it has been decided in consultation with the Ministry of Law and Justice and the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs that such attestation will be only self attestation by the overseas electors and not by the Indian High Commission. Rest as stipulated in the notification issued by the Election Commission may be followed.
